Moving HouseAfter a couple of attempts to regain my faith in efx, its finally over. I cant take the long distortion in connection and server problems anymore. Dah fed up. It always happens when I have so much to tell or when something important is happening in my life.Thats it, Im finally moving and this blog is just gonna be my 2nd blog from now on. Updates will be present only when I have the mood for it. So for those who have been faithful, thank you so much, and please contact me for my new url. Im not going to publicize it. Lagipun, if u contact me personally, Ill be able to know who reads my blog. Sincerely, Myra I Still BelieveInside every little girl, there will always be that one corner in her mind, imagining being a princess. Either it be Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Arial or any other fairy tale royalty (Im not sure about Princess Fiona though =P)Its the same situation where boys pretend being superheros. Haha. Boys wanna be the tough guy, the guy who saves the world from evil, the guy who stops the world from total destruction. But girls pretend to be princesses becoz they want to feel pampered, loved, wear beautiful clothes, get the prince of their heart and live happily ever after. I wonder why guys prefer being all macho and tough rather than pretend being a Prince =P. Hahahhaha.. Just a thought. But seriously, why ek? (any explaination guys?) Anyways, yesterday there wasnt anything interesting on TV so we ended up watching the Disney channel. The movie on was Cinderella III: A twist in time. Fairy Tales stories have always been an instant hit for children. But as you get older, it becomes a bit cheesy =P Although the sweet feeling of falling in love and the all "love will always find a way" phrases arent exactly as sweet in real life (fairy tales forget to mention the btter parts of love), we are still allowed to dream sometimes arent we =) I found this beautiful song from Cinderella III. I really enjoyed it. I dedicate this song to all the "princesses" who havent found their prince charming yet. Enjoy =) Lyrics I Still Believe - Hayden Panettiere Somehow I know I will find a way To a brighter day in the sun Somewhere I know that he waits for me Someday soon he'll see Im the one I wont give up on this feeling And nothing could keep me away Cause I still believe in destiny That you and I were meant to be I still wish on the stars As they fall from above Cause I still believe, believe in love I know what's real cannot be denied Although it may hide for awhile With just one touch love can calm your fears Turning all your tears into smiles Its such a wonderous feeling I know that my heart cant be wrong Enough to make miracles Change everything Lift you from the darkness And make your heart sing Love is forever When you fall.. Its the greatest power of all.. Yes I still believe Believe in love.. Dont give up gals =) My Graduation
Ive been putting off writing about my graduation for about 2 weeks now. The truth is, I didnt have any proper pictures to show coz they were all with my frens. Hehhe.. As you can see, I got a few oredi, but Im still waiting for the rest. I heard that there's a whole DVD! Hehehhe.. I wont be able to post the formal pictures from the Uni, coz they havent arrived yet. Ill post them up when I get them ;) My graduation day was on the 16th of August, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. I came to KL from the previous week coz one of my best fren's got married. Ill write a post about her wedding later. We had the rehearsals one day before. Everyone was already starting to get excited just seeing the hall where our ceremony would be held! Hahha.. It was huge and so cool! The planetary hall was as spendid as seen on TV. Right after the rehearsal, my frens and I went for lunch and came back for our photography session. Hahha.. Kitorg ni semua gile gambar, so you can just imagine how many pictures we took. The weather was extremely hot that week, and our photo shoot took place outdoors starting at 3pm. Damn it was hot. I ended up with a headache and a fever. Haha.. But we had fun. I arrived at nenek's house at around 8pm that day bcoz of the terrible traffic jam. Hahha.. Mak and Ayah arrived about an hour later from JB. Im not going to go into all the details of what happened, coz I dont feel like expressing the emotions I left during this course of time. Its too complicated =P Hehe.. The next morning, nenek woke me up at 5.30 am! Haha.. I set my clock at 6 am, so I was deprived of half an hour's sleep.. adoii.. hehe. My parents and I were going by separate cars coz I didnt want them to wait for me afterwards when I was busy with my frens. So I started out from the house at 6.30a.m. followed by my parents a few minutes later. Mak and Ayah insisted we go out early since PICC was kinda far. I went out and fetched Kak Ira from Sentul and drove fast coz I didnt want to be late. Kak Ira had to do her make up in the car! Hehe.. We arrived at around 7.25 a.m. We went to register on the 1st floor, coz all the parents and family members of award recipients had to be seated at the front. When my parents were seated, I straight away went to the 2nd floor to join my frens for the "perarakan masuk graduan". We did each other's robes and hat. Hahaha.. it was so funny! Everyone was starting to get nervous. During the parade of graduates, I was the third person from my course to enter coz we were lined up in alphabetical order. So we came into the hall and sat at our respectable places. The ceremony started, then came the scroll giving session. When my course came up, one by one we went up onto the stage. You cannot believe how nervous I was. There were so many protocols to follow when taking the scroll from our chancellor. Since he was also the crown prince of Pahang, we were required to bow and say "Junjung Kasih Tuanku" (which is a royal greeting for saying thank you). BUT, being so nervous all of a sudden, when I arrived in front of him, I went and said "Terima Kasih" instead! Hahahhaahhaha.. Sabar je la. So bile dah tersilap tu, ape lagi.. Cepat2 la nak turun pentas. Hahaha.. Its a good thing I was going to go up for a second time later. After all the graduates in the first session was finished, came the Special Awards Session. Right after I went up the stage to get my scroll, I was then ushered to a special seat at the front row with all the other award recipients. When the time came for us to receive our awards, I found out that I was going to be the first recipient. Hahahha.. Again, I became as nervous as hell. Hahha.. So as I awaited for my name to be called out, I calmed myself and made myself smile as wide as I can to hide the butterflies in my stomach. As my name was called, I walked on the stage with a huge smile. Everyone applauded, my whole batch shouted very loudly, my friends and acquaintances from other campuses were also cheering for me. That moment was just.. unforgetable. Im so glad I have so many friends and so many people supporting me. This award I received is not really for me. But for all who have helped me in my quest towards my goal. This award is for my beloved parents who have always supported and believed in me. Its for my lecturers who have been so kind to share their knowledge with me. It is for my friends who have been endlessly encouraging me. Without them, I wouldnt have become who I am today. Thank you so much =)
This is the award they gave me. I received a certificate, a plaque (as seen in the picture) and a check for RM1,000 (which I oredi put into my Tabung Haji account =P) Hehhe.. If you notice the small pictures above, you'll see that you cant see my face. Hehehe.. these pictures are courtesy of Shahril who brought along his telephoto lens and took those pictures from his seat. Since his seat was somewhere at the right side of the hall, taking a picture of my face was totally out of the question. Hahahha.. Mane nmpk! I cant wait for my pics from Uni. I hope they turn out okey. I came down from the stage still with a smile on my face. There's a video of me receiving the award. Ayah and mak took them. Ill post them later ok. After the ceremony finished, all the award recipients were ushered to the press conference room where there was a photography shoot of us with the chancellor and 2 vice chancellors. The crown prince came and talked to us, congratulating us individually. It was an honour. After the photography shoot, all the award recipients were then ushered to a luncheon with all the VVIPs. Mak and Ayah were already at our table. This luncheon consisted of all the VVIPs, University guests, the university's BOD, the university's higher management, parents of award recipients, and of course, the award recipients themselves. It was great! Just as I sat down, suddenly one of the committee came to me saying that a few reporters wanted to interview me. So I was brought back to the conference room and interviewed by two reporters; one from Kosmo, the other from Metro. They interviewed only 3 people, me, Zahidah (the chancellor award recipient. yes, it was a girl! GIRL POWER!! Hehhe..) and a boy who I dont remember his name. Im not sure if my interview came out in these two newspapers, coz tak sempat nak beli.. hehhe =P Tapi takpe la. The experience pun dah cukup best =) Only after the prince left, were we all allowed to adjurn. Haha.. It was a good thing the food was delicious. 1st class all the way. Mak and Ayah certainly ate their share. Hehe.. Afterwards, I intorduced Mak and Ayah to Prof. Abu, one of the vice presidents of the university. Since Ive always been telling my parents about him, what he has done for me and his endless encouragement for my success, I wanted my parents to meet him. He then said this "Amirah, I want you to work for UNIKL. You should come and sambung ur masters with us. We have a "programme tindikan" where we send you to study overseas." I was touched! Waahh.. bestnye prof ni. Suka sangat die. So I told him that I oredi called unikl about this, but I havent gotten a response yet. So he went and straight away called our Dean. Hahahhahahahha.. Terus dean tu suruh I email die about my interest. Dah bos suruh, kene la buat kan =P Hehehhehe.. Afterwards, we all went down to the concourse and my parents went home. I stayed on with my friends for another endless photoshoot. Hahahhahaha.. It was great fun compared to my diploma graduation (My friends had all gone home when I came out of the luncheon hall, so tak dpt amik gambar). We all then went to eat Sate Kajang Hj Samuri and I arrived home at about 5 o'clock.
Fiuh, what a day. That night, nenek had a kenduri doa selamat (arghh! no rest!) so again I was deprived of needed sleep. The next day, we had a kenduri from Ayah's side of the family in Subang, one of my friends had a kenduri for her engagement, we had to go back to PICC to take the studio picture (by the uni) and we had to go back to JB, all in the same day! ARGHHH!! You cannot imagine how tired I was. But I skipped my friends engagement kenduri coz we had to go to Melaka to drop off my grandma. We arrived back in JB at about 8.30pm. Fiuh *wipe forehead* Later, I got a headache, a sore throat and a tempreture. Ape taknye, one whole week of extreme hot weather and exhaustion. But it was all worth it *wink* I'll upload other pictures from this day later okey =) Busy WeekSorry folks for not updating earlier. Ive been in KL for the past 10 days. Busy busy busy.. Punye la penat, sampai demam. Hhaha..Anyways, I'll tell you what happened in detail later. Here are a few pics for ur enjoyment. 1. Our Best Fren's Wedding

Looks like were going to have a luncheon with the Chancellor and University Council. Again. During my diploma, I got 2 awards -- The Council and Presidents Award. Now Im just getting one, kinda the same as last time -- The Presidents Award--, just short of one =P Hehhe.. The Presidents Award is given to the best student from each campus. Alhamdulillah for that. All those hours of hard work finally paid off. To tell you the absolute truth, I was kinda aiming for the highest award, the Chancellor Award. But its okey. Im grateful nonetheless. At least I got one, right? Hehe.. (it must have been the protesting Ive been doing towards my uni. Not to mention the bad interview the other day *roll-eyes*). This might be my last award. It gets harder each time. Masters and PhD is gonna be tougher, so Im not exactly aiming for such awards anymore. Alhamdulillah again. Thank You Allah. Movie Mania Movies, movies, movies. Don't you just love 'em?A few weeks ago.. wait, I think it was last 2 weeks.. hehhe.. Anyway, i brought my siblings to go watch the hugely praised batman movie, The Dark Knight. Although at that time, I had already read one review from a bias batman fan, who said that the movie was "freakingly awesome", I wanted to set my own opinions, so I didn't put any high standards for the movie, in fear that it would be disappointing.
First of all, let me say that.. this is the LONGEST movie I have ever watched! Hahahhaha.. Damn it was long. But I have to agree that it was seriously fabulous. Hhaha.. I know, I know.. some might not agree with me (*winks at tex*) Hhehehe.. but personally, I loved it. Having been a huge fan of the actor, I might be bias in saying that Heath Ledger was incredible as Joker. He was so dark and psychotic, that I literally had goosebumps whenever Joker came on the screen. I loved how he portrayed Joker as a crazy psychopath who does horrific things just for the joy of it. Man, it was scary. I didn't really connect with Maggie Gyllenhaal though. Hmmm.. I don't know why, but there was something missing. I was also kinda put off by Two-face's make up and Batman's weird made up voice. Although it made batman sound dark and mysterious, he also sounded a but funny. Hhehe..But the rest was great! They added dialogues of humor and wit. I LOVED Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. So cool, macho and sophisticated on the outside, but so passionate and loving in the inside *sighh*.. My most favourite scenes: 1. Bruce Wayne bumps into Rachel and Harvey Dent in the restaurant. 2. Bruce and Alfred after they destroyed all evidence of Batman's hideout 3. Joker during his bombing of the hospital, his expression of disappointment of the little destruction it made -- Hahahhahaha! 4. Joker meets Harvey in the hospital, his expression of false regret -- "Hi.." 5. The scene where Bruce attempts to stop a civilian ramming into a police van, and his clueless reaction to Gordon's praise -- "What..? Trying to beat the traffic light?" I don't really remember that much, but I'll add other favourite scenes when I remember them. A scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest), I'm giving this movie an 8! Hehehhe.. Ok, next movie. The Mummy, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. We (meaning Me, Aimi and Ahmad) went to watch this movie on Saturday. Having seen the previous awesome Mummy movies before -- and loving them, we -- as in I -- was putting my expectations really high for its sequel. Although we knew that Evelyn O'Connell wasn't going to be acted by Rachel Weisz anymore -- which is disappointing coz I LOVE her! -- we hoped that Maria Bello would at least portray her humorous character. Imhotep was dead (obviously the movie wasn't about him anymore), but Evelyn's brother Johnathan named his club Imhotep, which I found very hilarious. Hahhaha.. I'm going to start with the characters first. Brenden Fraiser was great as usual. He's both so heroic and funny -- as usual. Ive never failed to love his character as Rick O'Connell. Its the witty comebacks that always make me laugh. Hehhe.. Evelyn O'Connell was rather disappointing actually. *Sigh* I miss Rachel Weisz! She brought the character much better. And she was hilarious as this clumsy, enthusiastic librarian in the first movie, and this sexy but no longer clumsy yet still funny mother in the 2nd one. Mario Bello didn't have any of those characteristics. Evelyn wasn't funny anymore, she lacked the enthusiasm and passion. She looked too sophisticated and posh. Hmmm.. was this just me, or did u guys feel the same way?
Alex O'Connell was cute. Hehhe.. Full stop =P Oh okeyy... hehhe.. I cant really compare his characteristics with the previous movie coz at that time, he was just a kid. Now he's all grown up. Jet Li... Hmmmm.. I don't like Jet Li being a bad guy. I see him as more the heroic type rather than the villain. Again, this is bias coz I LOVE Jet Li. Hehhe =P. Anyways, since Im not into Jet Li being the evil dragon emperor who plans to conquer the world, this character didnt do much for me. Michael Yeoh's character was cool though, with the forbidden love and immortality thingy going on. Ahaa.. I missed one of my most favourite characters, Johnathan -- Evelyn's big brother who's mind is always filled with treasures and jewels. Hehhee.. This guy is wonderful! Ok then, storyline... Hmmm.. It was ok I guess. I dont know why it didnt really thrill me that much. It was interesting.. but it might be the extreme fantasy of it all.. A little bit too much in my opinion. Hmm.. how should I explain this.. Ok ok.. in the first 2 movies, the story was more of human vs. spirit/immortal beings/witch craft. But this movie was more of both sides being magical/witch craft. But the special effects were awesome! Id give you that. Hehhe.. Overall, it was kinda disappointing for me. I'd give it a 4.5 Anyone with other opinions? Do share. Ok, next.. I just cannot wait for this movie. Coming out in November, the long awaited 6th movie of HP. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price. Here's its current trailer. Enjoy! =) A Stepping StoneLast week, I went to go meet a former lecturer of mine concerning my masters. This lecturer of mine was a part time lecturer at my uni, but he's actually a full time lecturer at UTM. He taught me Virtual Environment, and I got an A for his subject *huge grin*.Anyway, during his lectures, he used to constantly ask the whole class about anyone interested to further their studies. He kept saying that he needed students to do research for him with all costs paid. God knows how interested I was at that time. The was also this one incident, during a pop quiz, where he came to me and asked me my pointer. Hmm.. that made questions pop up in my head, but I kept quiet. After a while, I found out that he was trying to get me to do my masters with him. So after my practical placement, I contacted him -- asking of course, the details of this masters he was offering, and also the interest of my joining his department by becoming a tutor. He was glad that I contacted him and said that he'd save a spot for me. I requested to start in July, and he said ok. After that, I was off to Australia for 3 months. Last week, I contacted him back. And he asked me to come to his office to discuss this situation. During that time, I found out that he had oredi given my spot to someone else. He tried to contact me and find me during those 3 months, but to no avail. Hmmmm.. well, its okey. Bukan rezeki la tu. Anyhow, he told me to submit my tutor application after I received my degree certificate. I left my CV with him and told him to contact me if he had any other projects in the future. And I went home.
A few minutes after that, he called me. He said that he went to see the head of his department with my CV, and told me that I should also apply doing masters by research at UTM. He told me that he has oredi reserved a topic for my masters. He wants me to create a Game Engine.
Fiuh, thats gonna be really tough! Arghhhh! Hahahhaha.. Game Engine huh? Oh wow. Im seriously in need of reading materials. I also have to start learning DirectX, coz this is gonna involve a lot of programming. Im both excited and frightened at the same time! Hahahhaa.. But it was a huge boost to my self confidence when he told me that his department really wants me in their team =). I hope Ill be able to meet their standards. Wish me luck people!! Arghhhhhh!! A Celebrity WeekendCatchy title isn’t it? Hehe..Yesterday morning, we all (excluding Aimi and Ahmad) went to KL on a day trip. Actually, nenek had a kenduri arwah and doa selamat at her house, so we went there to attend. We set off to KL in the wee morning, before the sun was even up. Stopped in Melaka to pick up some fruits from nenek’s kebun, and went straight to KL for the kenduri. The other reason for the kenduri was my Uncle from Abu Dhabi was home for the holidays. Ive always loved family gatherings, especially with Paklong and AyahCik around. It never fails to be upbeat and fun! Nenek didn’t really invite that many people. She just wanted it to be a small gathering, with our closest family and relatives. So there were all 4 of mak’s siblings – with their families, Wan Cik (Nenek’s younger sister), Auntie Nora & Uncle Megat (Busu’s in-laws) and Tok Malik’s family. Tok Malik is my beloved grandpa’s younger brother. Anyhow.. you’d never guess who else came..! Hehehehe.. See below: Hahahahahahhahaaha.. ok ok, before everyone who recognises Andy gets all excited and shocked with why on earth a celebrity was present as my grandma’s house, let me just explain. (opps before that, Im not sure those who aren’t from Malaysia would know Andy. But anyhow, he’s a famous drummer from the group Estrange *wink*. You can Google them if you wanna know more.)
But you better believe it. He was there alright. That image you see above is not some cleaver photo editing using photoshop ok. Heheh.. That’s REAL. The other celebrity who came to my grandma’s house was Rudy from PopShuvit. But we didn’t get his picture coz he went home early. Hopefully this picture wont come out in any gossip column or magazine. It would be such a scandal! Why? Bcoz he’s my UNCLE!! Hahahhahahahahha… Yup, you read it right. He’s my uncle. So is Rudy from PopShuvit, coz they’re brothers. Hahahha.. Well, more specifically, they’re my mother’s cousins, my grandpa’s nephews. Hehe.. what? Tak percaya ke? Hehe.. I must admit that Andy (We all actually know him as Azwin) is very handsome. He’s been the cutest among his 3 brothers since little. He’s also the tallest. So I do understand why people are so crazy about him. INCLUDING my friend KakHas. She is practically a huge fan. I remember her smsing me telling me to send my regards to Andy the next time I met him. “Uncle” Andy was also sporting enough to take a picture with me, just so that I could make KakHas jealous. Hahhaaha. But he also gave her something that I expect she’ll frame and keep safe! His autograph, addressed especially to her. Hahahhahahahaha. After that was done, I called KakHas up telling her about what happened. And what did she give me in return?? A loud and long SCREAM of excitement. Hahahha.. I think that left permanent damage in my ear =P Although I admit he’s very cute, but come on. He’s my uncle for crying out loud. Hahahaha.. BUT I have a confession. I still want someone as tall as him *wink*. { Last Page } { Page 1 of 13 } { Next Page } |
